Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading incentive program designed to encourage reading at levels appropriate to the student. Students read books independently, test on the computer and accrue points. Research tells us that the more students read, the better they become as readers. AR is used with grades 2 through 5 and individual teachers may also have goals for students within the classroom. The school recognizes students who reach point levels at a grade level and ultimately reach the Reading Hall of Fame and attend an end of the year celebration.
